It is common place to crack a joke about ignoring those suspicious clanks and clunks that your car might make whilst on the road, but it is important that this remains as a joke and never becomes the choice that you choose to take. There are common faults that consist within cars every day and, without being repaired, could result into a larger issue that could put you and other road users in danger. Today, we summarise the most common faults to occur of which you should never ignore.
Squeaking brakes
People often live with squeaking brakes for so long that they adapt to the noise and label it as a normal car function. However, this is incorrect. Squeaking brakes could be signalling that there is a fault with your brake pads, such as evident signs of wearing. By leaving this issue to remain, you are risking the use of your brakes being completely worn out, resulting in an accident that you will not want to be a part of. The sooner you get this noise assessed, the smaller and more cost friendly the repair work will be.
Smoke
As you have probably guessed, the sight of smoke whilst driving is never a good sign. It could mean that your vehicle has simply over heated, or it could signal that there is a dangerous underlying issue that you should get looked at by a trained mechanic, as soon as possible. If you are ever to experience smoke from your car, you should immediately pull over, turn the engine off and stand well away from your vehicle.
Uneven steering
If you find that your steering is being pulled in one direction, or that the process feels uneven or wobbly when changing gear, it is likely that your wheel alignment has been damaged or is faulty. This often occurs after a previous accident causes an impact to the front of your vehicle and has left internal damage which you were unable to see. If this issue is one which occurs within your own vehicle, get your car booked into a garage for a professional check over as soon as possible to ensure that your steering wheel once again controls the car as it should.
Regular stalling
If it is a regular occurrence for your vehicle to stall unexpectedly, or to fail when starting your engine, this is a cause for concern. The main issue here may simply be that you are driving an unreliable vehicle which gives up on you at random points throughout your journey. The role of your car is to get you from A to B, so this should be a clear signal to you that your car is in need of repair work. Besides, it could also be a warning that there is an additional underling issue which is crying out to be fixed!
Leaking
If you notice leaking from your vehicle, it is likely that there is a fault with your transmission fluid, and this is a fault which should never be ignored. This fluid is the root of your cars functionality, so without it, you are looking at hefty repair or replacement work with high costs. Other fluids which may be the culprit of your vehicles leak are coolant or oil – either way, should bot cause concern to you. Get your vehicle booked in at the first sign of any leakage to ensure that you can remain safe within your vehicle.
